Rotor drive & gear train

All the old bearings were removed from the bearing blocks. This can be done easily by heating the blocks and using a wooden dowel to tap the old bearing out. Once the blocks had been cleaned and polished new bearings were inserted, again by warming the aluminium blocks.

It goes without saying that all rotating shafts need to run true, in this case a new main mast was used.

To ensure minimum resistance the bearing block bolts are evenly tightened while slowly rotating the main shaft.
