Hirobo Bell UH-1B

Main frame

Prior to preparing the fuselage and the tail drive assembly the bare mechanics are built. Both the main shaft and tail drive are supported with two radial bearings.

The main frame consists of two composite sides that when screwed together form a very strong structure. When working with the fuselage and lining up the tail drive it is easier with as light assembly as possible – so the engine and fuel tank are not required at this stage.

The radio tray is added so that any additional woodwork that may be added to the fuselage for strength or a cockpit appearance will not interfere with the mechanics.

The tail drive support is added to the mechanics prior to gluing the remaining shaft driven tail drive assembly into the fuselage.

Although the model will be completed with tubular cross struts and an improved set of skids the stock items are used temporarily so that the mechanics can be worked on easily.
