Running in

The mechanics are tethered to a test stand to continue the engine run-in process and to ensure that the mechanics run smoothly. Note the amount of balancing tape on one of the head loaders.

Electrical tape is wrapped around the area where the flexible tail drive mates with the main mechanics. This will prevent oil being unnecessarily spread around the inside of the fuselage.

The flexible tail drive is lubricated with the light oil included in the kit before it finally goes into the fuselage. Strips of electrical tape seal off access to the drive coupler for the same reasons above.

The mechanics are then placed in the fuselage ready for another run-up. This time to ensure that the tail drive runs without a problem. Notice that the tail rotor has not been fitted at this stage.

The tail rotor assembly is straight forward and needs no modification other than to be balanced.

To complete the running in process flight testing is carried out at the flying field where all the settings for reliable flight can be established.
