Interior

This is the first step in applying scale detail. With imagination and supporting documentation it is possible to scratch build some of the cockpit. Initial shapes of the internal fuselage are cut out of card to establish the profile and then plastic card can be shaped accordingly.

The whole assembly will have to remain removable to allow the mechanics to be manoeuvred in and out of the fuselage for maintenance.

The formers with their lightening holes will be clearly seen through the chin windows, a characteristic of the full-size.

The instrument binnacle is attached to a central support that is secured to both the false floor and the inside rim of the fuselage. When the assembly is tightened up it stiffens the whole front nose of the fuselage.

To prevent light being seen through the fuselage baffles are made.

The whole assembly is now ready for painting light grey, but the baffles will be light absorbing flat black.
