The appropriate mix of fuel was prepared – Amsoil Synthetic
Saber Professional was mixed as prescribed at 100:1 with Shell unleaded. To establish a safe idle the rotor head was
removed in preparation for the first engine start. After several pulls the
engine settled into a fast idle which justified taking the rotor head off.
After a few moments it settled into a lower idle so as not to engage the
clutch. The rotor head was re-installed and a balanced set of 80cm carbon NHP blades were added in preparation for the first flight. |

A calm day was chosen to set-up the machine. Only
minor modifications were required to the tracking and the carburettor. Note the scale fuel tank covers were not used in an attempt to become familiar with fuel usage. Flight times of 20 minutes will be possible with enough margin for a safety limit. |
