GMP Cricket

The GMP Cricket is a fixed pitch machine that rekindles memories for many people as it was a popular choice for beginners in the early 80’s.

The building stages below are faithful to those in the instruction manual and are presented here to take you down memory lane whilst also providing help for those who are in the midst of a restoration.

The model was designed by John Gorham at the end of the 70’s and went into production in early ’82. Gorham Model Products (GMP) continued to sell the machine as their entry-level helicopter until the end of the ’80.s.

The helicopter came in kit form and was designed for a 2-stroke .25 - .28 cubic inch engine and a four-channel radio. The mechanics are typical of many machines of its era; flat aluminium plate for the chassis, wooden radio tray, vac-formed canopy, cone start, and wooden blades.
